Green Business Tourism Award

We are encouraging museums to consider going for a GBTA award. It makes visitor and world sense!

The Green Museum Toolkit and the GBTA analyses sheets  can be used in parallel – they work well together covering pretty well all bases.

The Award itself is not ours but run by the independent Green Business Tourism Scheme  The GTBS is the national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK. Originally developed in partnership with Visit Scotland, it is now the only certification scheme validated by Visit Britain, through the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT).

There is a cost to being certificated, but for many sites it is worth it . Please contact the MDO for more information about grantrs or deals which may be available to support you.
